Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with the United Kingdom and his visit to Britain has strengthened bilateral relations. He also said they want trade and not aid with the UK and want to turn ties into sustainable trade relations; the UK is already providing valuable assistance to Punjab in the education field.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Lord Nazir Ahmed, a British Parliamentarian on Friday, disclosed an official. Matters of mutual interest and promotion of Pak-UK ties were discussed in the meeting. Barrister Abid Hussain, Rizwan Aslam, Zubair Gill and Rana Wajid were also present.

According to the Chief Minister, the PML-N government has set new records of public service by taking revolutionary steps in education, health, transport, infrastructure and other sectors throughout the province and has promoted merit and transparency in all sectors. The confidence reposed by the people in the candidates of the PML-N in by-elections is a clear proof of their practical performance.
